We had fun today snuggling down and watching the Duma movie in the gym for our Principal Payoff. We raises almost $4,000 for our school.
During reading block we used our pillows and blankets too.
It was fun laying around and reading with friends.

During P.E. Mrs. Hamilton passed out our "Jump for Heart" prizes.
These girls have walked over 40 miles (very impressive) during recess so they got these footballs.

Read-A-Thon Principal Pay-Off Movie Day.
As part of our Read-A-Thon principal pay-off students have elected to have a movie "day". In an attempt to find a movie that would interest all ages and be one that students haven't seen many times, the movie Duma (click to see trailer of this movie) was chosen. This is a movie about a boy who decides to return the cheetah he raised from a cub to the wild instead of allowing pursuers to place it in captivity. This is a PG movie for mild adventure peril. It is our district policy that we inform parents if we are going to show a PG movie. If you would prefer that your child NOT watch this movie, please let me know and we will find an alternative option.

Today we received our green shamrock charms from our Shamrock Shuffle from yesterday.
Here are a few students that have written and published some of their own stories.
This group of three worked together to write their story.

Shamrock Shuffle

Today we earned a green shamrock charm for walking two laps around the track during morning recess. After completing the two laps we were given this green cards which we will turn in to get our charm. O'Whatfun!

African Reports Coming Up

After Spring Break we will start our unit on Africa. This tool will help students find information on the many animals that live in Africa. Right now we don't need to do anything with it, but if you can't stand it and want to see some good animal sites, feel free to type in a word and search.

Type in an animal and hit the search button.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day. We were a sea of green. It looked so festive and fun.
As we started our work today, on of the children found a note apparently written by
a friendly leprechaun. Here AD and LR are holding it up to the mirror to read it. It appears
to be written backwards.

LH and KC have another note.

One of the notes led us to look under the keyboards. RV and SR found this one.

Then we were told to look in a big drawer to find a bowl with a blue lid.

We found this bowl with some kind of "magical" powder. It smelled really good.
The note with it said to mix it with "Magic Moo" juice....so we figured that meant MILK.
DL poured in the first carton of milk and it turned GREEN!
Then a few more of us poured in some more.
It looked good enough to eat, so we did. Here is CSH with his first bite.

Duso Visits / Computer Buddies

Today Duso came to visit and talk to us about standing up for ourselves. Here we are sitting up tall and practicing how to be firm with our voice.
At noon we went to the computer lab and helped our second grade buddies on the computer.
We agreed we wouldn't touch the mouse, we would only point out on the screen what to do.

I think we were awfully good support even if I do say so myself.
Here LR is organizing her book that she illustrated.
Look in the near future to hear her read it online.
