We continue to attempt to become Math Millionaire Champions. Today we had 2 more people join the Math Millionaire Club. Here is a 3 minute video of the final minutes.

Writing Outside

Today we took advantage of the nice weather and got out of the hot classroom to do some writing. We have started our "Slice of Life" writing unit. Each day we write about a small slice of our life. We are trying to write more complex sentences, use transition words, and interesting fun words when it is appropriate.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire

We found an AMAZING new math website ! It is called Math  Millionaire .
The questions are perfect for 3rd grade common core state standards and really had us persevering to correctly solve each problem. If you miss, you have to start all over. No one made it to a million dollars today, but I am sure we will have many millionaires amongst us soon.

I like my students to partner up during math so they can learn from each other and practice explaining their strategies.

Some things we learned today:
Decimals are very important, even though they are just a tiny little dot.
Drawing the problem out helps us solve it.
If we go too fast, we forget little things.....like the negitive sign in a negative number.

I have created a QR code and Million dollar bill for students to sign and post around the room when they reach the million dollar prize.

Picnic Lunch

We earned a reward for  receiving so many compliments on our behavior. The vote was unanimous.... eat lunch outside on the hill.

We were surprised by a bunch of ladybugs.
