Friendship Counts

Today we started making friendship bracelets.
We are going to send them to our Uganda friends to show them how much we appreciate their friendship.

Best Friends

Ok, I see I got these uploaded in reverse. You might want to start at the bottom of this post and work your way back to the top.
Our Uganda friends sent a package on May 6th and it arrived today! We were so excited to open it. We each received a personal note on a card, postcard, and/or bracelet.
This was a very special day for us!

Some of the students that do not live at Great Valley Children's Center (school/orphanage) took it upon themselves to haul water and do other jobs around their area to raise money to be able to purchase gifts for us as a token of their friendship and to thank us for sending them an ipod to use as a camera. We share a blog with them. You can check it out here.

These gifts were sent to us with so much love and appreciation. We feel very honored to share our lives and learn from each other. We will all cherish our gifts and memories of today.

The cards seemed to be made from stickers made from natural products like bark and grass. They are really neat.

The beads on the bracellets are long skinny triangles rolled up. Pretty neat!

A banner of appreciation for our classroom. How neat!

This is a gift to the Altrusa group for helping us fund the ipod we sent them.
Our Uganda connection is a wonderful experience. We are learning how diverse our world.
Thank you all who support us in our lives. We are so lucky!

Writing During Read Aloud

The 5 mini iPads that we ordered from our art auction money came today and we are so excited. We drew pictures as we visualized the story we are reading called Seekers, by Erin Hunter. It is a wonderful story about three different types of bears. Here is what happened in the story today.

Later in the afternoon we added another "Slice of Life" to our memory books. Here TW is looking at our classroom blog to help him remember a moment that he wants to write about. He has started his writing with a 4 square which helps him organize his writing and also helps him know when to start a new paragraph.
