Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

Today it snowed and we didn't go out and play until 1:15.
The snow was too wet and the kids would have gotten soaked.
We did sneak out at 11:00 to measure though. We had 2 inches.
Once we did get out, we had fun! Here is a large group of kids working together to make the largest snowball ever.
This is RV ready for school.
This is CL and her friend with their snowman.
SR decided to make a fort.
CS and JVB with their snowman.
JM, KZ, RV, and LR with their snowman.

Up on Display

Today we finished our beautiful paintings.
We painted ornaments and reindeer. Then with the help of a couple
wonderful room helpers, we were able to get our work up in the
hallway.

In the afternoon our reading buddies came and we made paper chains,
and enjoyed just talking together. I would like to invite everyone to our Reading Night & Bazaar on December 6th. Our principal, Mrs. Milternburger will read one of our favorite stories of all time, The Polar Express. Then families can continue to read or shop for a few items made by 5- 9 year old students.
December 11th is our Christmas Concert. We would like you to come to the Vert at 6:40 pm. Students will all sit together in the reserved front rows.

Happy Holidays

Today we decided to decorate our room and the hallway to make it more "festive".
This is BT painting Rudolph. We wanted our paintings to be large, so we spread out on the floor.
Here you can see a group working hard to get their reindeer just right.
JM and LH worked by each other as they finished their paintings.
I don't know if there is anything better than art work created by young children.
I fell in love with every single piece.
This group is creating the letters for our heading.
It will say "Happy Holidays" when we are all done.
We had a little visit this morning that touched my heart.
I shared with the kids that we have earned a good amount
of money with our cards and labels. I asked if they would
like to spend some of that money (from the cards and labels)
to help a family that might be in need this winter. They responded
with an overwhelming, "YES". On Thursday, we will present Mrs. Thorne
with our gift, which she will make sure finds it's way to a family that will appreciate it. Some of the children may ask you if they can bring some of their
own money from home. I told them that this was already money from them, but they still wanted to bring more. I will leave that up to you.
I am very proud of everyone for wanting to do so much for others.
Thank you for supporting our projects and setting us up for this wonderful opportunity.

Snow Fall

It was so fun to come to school today and play with friends in the new snow.
Above is CS, below is AD.
Here KC and TC team up to roll a large snowball.

While ML and SM work on this one.
Friday we had our awards assembly. Here are the students who
got to walk the red carpet to receive their responsibility reward.
Tomorrow we will participate in the first turkey trot.
Students will earn a turkey charm after walking or jogging
around the track during morning recess. We thought we would
create a few laughs and dress up like turkeys. Gobble gobble.
Happy Thanksgiving.

Catching Up

I got so busy last week with things
that I wasn't able to keep up with the blog.
I will try to make up for it today.
We are selling cards as a fund raiser.
We have two different sets. Hearts (like these) and butterflies.
You can purchase six cards for $5.
Let us help you with your Christmas shopping. :o)
Last week everyone was so good for Mrs. Naughton
in the library that she gave everyone a green slip.
Ask your child to tell you the story of how they tricked me
with their straight faces
and hiding something behind their backs.
We also have started another project. You can see on the computer
screens here a few samples. Last year we sold Christmas labels. We
will be making more this year because they were so well received last year.
We are hoping to have a Family Read
Night and a small bazaar on Dec. 6th. More information to come.

We also finished our scarecrow trading cards.
It was a lot of fun watching everyone trade their cards
and then create games with them.

Here is LR counting the cans she brought in for the
can food drive. So far we have collected 13 cans.
Today (Tuesday) was a sad day for many of us.
We had to take our scarecrows apart.
Here you can see us saying good-bye.
Many of us have published books this month.
Here is RV sharing her story with us.
This is AD sharing his story.
This is KC with his story.
And two more, JM and LR with their Halloween books.
With our busy month, we have a lot of scrap booking to do.
Here is LR showing us her scarecrow pages.

Fall Memories

Today we started to scrapbook all the fun we had in October.
Here is LR with her scrapbook page of our scarecrow project.

Thursday night is the basket auction.

Maybe someone from our room will purchase our wonderful scarecrow that is up for adoption.

Thank you to everyone for sending such nice gifts to put

in our classrooms candle basket. It is overflowing!

Thank you for you continued support.
