Last week Mrs. G came in and shared some of her experiences of life in Africa with us. She has been five there times and does such a wonderful job sharing stories with us. Makes us want to hop on a plane and go experience it first hand.

So Much to Catch Up On
I have so much to catch you up on. Go get a fresh cup of coffee and pull up a comfy seat, this is going to take awhile.
First off, we have a play to share with you. We will have three groups perform one time each on Tuesday, June 1st. The play will last about 7 minutes and then we would like to share our African animal videos that we have created. All in all, it will take about 30 minutes. You are invited to come in and watch it in person, or we will also have it online. We will be streaming live video for those of you who are not able to come in. All you will need to do is click on this link at either play time and view it at your computer. Make sure you have sound available.http://sites.google.com/site/anansiplay/
At 9:00 we will have the play with: TD, GC, CC, MC, BC, KA, JC, and KB
At 9:30 we will have the play with: TP, TH, AW, MM, SW, ER, JS, and LD
At 1:00 pm we will have the last group of: CR, BC, CK, AW, VS, BU, MM, and LG

Cooking with the High School
Last week the Pro Start cooking class from the high school came to cook with us.
We made omelets. First we chopped some green peppers and onion.
Then we put everything we wanted in our omelet into a Ziploc bag.
Next, we cracked two eggs into the bag.

Africa
My apologies for not keeping up with this blog. We have so much going on, I hope you are visiting the kids blog to stay up with us. Last week we started our study of Africa. We invited pilot Tim Sweek in to help start our journey. Then we watched a short National Geographic video that shows many of Africas fascinating animals.
I have updated our upcoming events off to the right.
At this time we only have one date that we will not be at school for lunch. Plan on sending a sack lunch on Thursday, June 3rd because we will be meeting our Pen Pals at McKay Park. More information to come.
Volunteers Needed!
I am looking for 3 volunteers for our Field Day. It is on May 25th from 8:00 to 11:00.
Field Day is when we have all kindergarten through third grade students participate in all kinds of fun events together on the playground. Students are placed on teams and they rotate through each event. Some of the events are: scooters, the limbo, tug o' war, parachute, 3 legged race...

Catching Up
Last week we took our paper pencil mad minute to compare our speed on our simple math facts.
Everyone has doubled or almost doubled their number of problems that they can do in 3 minutes.
We are also authoring our own books. Here KB and MM are writing their stories.
They took pictures with the camera to illustrate their stories. Then they write out the story. Then they get to move the pictures onto the computer and record their voice on each page. When they are all finished, we send the flipchart story to our Pen Pals and friends here at McKay. They are turning out really neat.

Coloring Eggs & RIF
Today was RIF day. "Reading is Fundamental". This is when we each get to pick out a book and keep it. Thank you to SW's parents for being a part of this program. We love our books.
GC brought in this critter and we all had fun learning all that it can do.
His name is Wilbur.
Isn't BC's cute?
JS's is precious too.
