Here we are with Mrs. Thorne.

She came to tell us about her job and to learn about us.

MC published a new post to his kidblog today.

We hope you are all checking out our kidblogs.

We love the comments you leave.

CK and GP are making a good reading choice during reading time.

They were listening to a story on the i touch.

TP is writing a really long story about Henry and Mudge.

We can't wait to hear it. He might even publish it.

This Friday we are having a snack food sale. Bring $.50 - $1.00 to get a yummy, delicious treat.

We learned about compound words today and then we made a video of our compound words on Videolicious (i touch app).

Today we went to the computer lab for the first time this year. We did IXL math. IXL math is a subscription through McKay that lets us do all kinds of math skills. We can do it at home too. It was fantastic!

We made giant ice cream cones for art this week. They have sprinkles and a cherry on top.
They are so neat that you might want to frame them. If so, you can buy a frame that is 18x24 inches and it will fit perfectly.

We are enjoying the comments that everyone is leaving.

Thank you for looking at our blog.

Today was our first Library check out.

We can have up to two books and have them for a week.

In our reading group we were playing a reading game to learn new vocabulary.

In Walking Club, CK went around the track 3 times in ONE (10 min) recess today. Wow!
Walking Club is when you walk around the track and a grownup punches a hole in a card each time we go around the track.

Today we got to use the i touches to practice our math. We used the app Balloon Pop. We practiced our addition and multiplication facts. When we see the right answer, we pop the balloon. It was awesome.

Library & Art

These are some of our self portraits we want you to see.

Working With Technology

Our first time using expressions, it was fun!

Expressions are like remotes that you can use to put your answer in math, reading, or spelling.

We are on the computers doing reading on www.raz-kids.com

Lots to Remember

We have a lot of things coming up.
June 1st only the 3rd graders will be going to the Middle School to participate in the track meet. The will need: sunscreen, water bottles with their names on them, and a sack lunch. They may bring a towel to sit on if they would like.

June 3rd; McNary Dam Field Trip
Students need to wear sunscreen and good walking shoes. They also need a water bottle and sack lunch.

Please let me know if your child would like the kitchen staff to make them a sack lunch for our trips by May 26th. THANK YOU

Go Animate & CoSketch

We discovered a couple new websites where students can be very creative. Go Animate is a site where you can create dialog between two characters and then it will publish it into a movie speaking your words. CoSketch is a site where you can draw with someone else who is on another computer somewhere else.

Science

This week we have Eryn with us to teach us about Matter and Energy.

Egg Hunt

Last week we colored two eggs each and then searched for them in the yard.

We had a great time and everyone found their own eggs.
We put our names on them so we search for only ours. If we see someone elses, we keep right on going.

Then if someone asks for help, then we might provide them with a clue.

Farm To Market

Today we enjoyed learning how our food gets from the farm to our house.

We got to see all the kinds of fruits and vegetables that are grown in our area.
This is a dragon fruit. It does not grow here, but was too neat to skip.
TD got new glasses, so cute! We also got to sample cumquats.

Looking at a map of what region certain products come from.
When we left, they gave us a bag full of great items. We each got a package of seeds to plant at home.
