Christmas Party

We started off our afternoon by watching a slideshow and listening to the story of The Polar Express. Then everyone got a magic bell and a cup of hot cocoa with a candycane. Here the girls are showing us their ticket to ride on the Polar Express.

Then we came back to our room and made reindeer cookies.



Then Mrs. H and CH shared with us some packages of Magic Christmas cocoa. On Christmas Eve students can mix their cocoa with hot water. Stir with the magic candycane, then drop in the magic bell. It will help everyone fall asleep easier on Christmas Eve.




We finished the day playing in our paper chain that we used to decorate our classroom.

Reindeer with Reading Buddies

Today our reading buddies invited us to their room to make reindeer. First we read Jan Brett's story, The Wild Christmas Reindeer. This is ESH tracing EM hand for the antlers.
This is BL testing the reindeer nose before she puts it on her reindeer.
Duso came to visit us today. He use to visit us a lot when we were in Kindergarten.

A Gift To You

Today we came home with another gift for you, made with lots of love!

Merry Christmas

Today we made a chain to decorate our classroom.

The other day our reading buddies came and SB got a huge hug from SB.
Last week we had our Christmas concert at the Vert. This is earlier in the day during practice.

I hope you all got your first Christmas gift. Thank you to those of you that wanted to purchase some extra ones for family members. We have raised enough money to purchase a photo printer for our classroom. At the end of the year your child will be bringing home a pretty special photo album of their second grade memories.

Teaching Assembly

Today we went to a teaching assembly. We won the trophy for being such good listeners. This is SA and CC who collected the trophy for us. Thank you to the Police Dept. for the pencils in it. We love them. They change color when we warm them up. This is "Bucky" our school mascot. He just got back from the Horse Spa and he looks so GOOD! Thank you Parents Club for finding the money to help Bucky. We love him!

M&M graphing

Today we worked on recording information on a graph. We learned that small packages of M&M's will have between 20 and 24 M&M's in them. We also found out that there are more green candies overall. The color that had the least was brown. This is CC recording his brown M&M's.
JS has his candy all sorted.

Native American Assembly

This is SB dressed and ready for the Native American Assembly. She will be dancing with her brother, sister, and many other friends this afternoon. This morning everything stopped as we noticed the snow falling outside. It was coming down so hard, that some of us got worried about being snowed in.

Happy Thanksgiving

Can Food Drive

Today CC brought in 9 cans of food for the can food drive. We will be collecting food until December 7th. This is what the girls made during Choice Time.
Today we also got a R.I.F book.
These two were having fun at choice time too.
We learned a new card game. This game is Flip it High, Flip it Low.

Respectful Awards

This month everyone earned their respectful charm to put on their necklace. In the afternoon a few students got called upon to walk the red carpet and be acknowledged infront of the whole school. Way to go! In the morning we had the opportunity to spend our money that we have earned this month. Feathery bracelets and rockets were a big hit.

Read A Thon Rewards

Okay...I want this basket! Our parents club is putting on a basket auction Nov. 16th. Our classroom is responsible for collecting items that have to do with wrapping gifts. You can send paper, cards, bows, ribbons....you name it. This is TL with all the fun items she brought! Thank you TL and family. Today we worked on our photo albums. We scrapbooked our Big Pumpkin Play pictures. This is BP with her book. Didn't her page turn out neat? I put all the plays on a VHS tape. Let me know if you would like to borrow it and view the plays. cschimel@pendleton.k12.or.us Our Principal came in today to help celebrate the wonderful job of fund raising we all did. McKay was able to collect $4,100 this year with the Read A Thon. As a reward the students asked for a pj day with time to play games.
She also presented TL with a gift card to Toys R Us. TL collected the second highest amount for the primary classes.
JS brought his Operation game for game time.

Earlier this week we drew scarecrows for our November calendar. They turned our really cute. I love second grade art!
