Candling Eggs


Today we took the eggs into a dark room and candled them. We were able to see the chicks moving inside. It was really neat. When we come back from spring break they will almost be ready to hatch. We are making a bulletin board about our chicken eggs. This group is painting the rooster.
These two are making the farmer who got us the eggs.


These two made the eggs. We have two different kinds of eggs, brown and green.

We are keeping a close eye on our eggs.
Our Library has a new system that helps us find certain books. This is JB trying to find a book about hatching chicken eggs.
LM and SA enjoying a few magazines together.
JM helped us with the number corner today. We are learning how to subract with renaming.

Lunch Surprise!

Today JJ found a golden ticket in her lunch. She was able to trade it in for a prize. The lunch ladies wanted to do something special for us. Read more about it in the latest newspaper that is coming home on Friday.

St. Patrick's Day

Today we found puzzle pieces that had a note on them. When we put it together, and found out it was from a Leprechaun. He hid some magic powder for us.
The note said to add Magic Moo Juice to it, so we got some milk from the kitchen.

It made a green kind of pudding.
We liked it!
Yummy!

Incubator

Today we put our chicken eggs into the incubator.
They should hatch on April 4th or 5th. This is MS filling in her calendar that we are keeping track of our eggs with. We had an awards assembly today to honor trustworthy citizens.
It was DA birthday today!

Carnival

Today we opened our classroom store to spend the money we have each earned. Our incubator arrived today!
We can't wait until tomorrow to set the eggs.

String Games

We read a story during reading groups that talked about string games. Here we are trying a few. We can do through the hand, the star and the broom.
We have wrapped up our study of penguins. This is our finished project.
Now we are studying chickens. This is JM painting the cover of his chicken book.
This is BB finishing her book cover. We will keep a journal of our discoveries as we incubate chicken eggs.
We read about a group of kids that wanted to change the world by doing good deeds for others. We decided we wanted to be "Goodness Gorilla's" too, so we went out and cleaned up around our school. Some of us plan on going home and cleaning up too.

Trading Money

We opened the bank today and traded in our coins for ones that are worth more. This is AM helping HK count out 50 cents. GGB is counting her pennies so she can get a dime.
We finished reading Mr. Popper's Penguins today. This is EB favorite part in the book.

Birthday Celebration

Today started out with everyone finding out it was my birthday when our councelor brought in some fun birthday music and props. It was a lot of fun! Thank you for making my day extra special everyone. This is EB on the swing at recess. It was sunny and cold today.
BB, BP and CC are putting their Little blue penguin up in the hall.
Surprise! BW lost his tooth today!

Math

We started today off with a Mad Minute.Then we played a quick round of math flashcards.
This afternoon we made penguins to scale. This is GB and JS measuring thier rockhopper which is 18 inches tall.
After painting our penguins, we searched for more information about them. We will have them in the hall for you to see when you come to the Pie Social tomorrow night.
This is EB, JB and BW getting information on the yellow eyed penguin. They even got to listen to what one sounds like. That was neat.

Newspaper

We started writing our new newspaper today.
This is LR typing on her AlphaSmart to write her article.

ER and JB are practicing their spelling words. They are playing a game called "Pig".
This is BP taking out the walking club sign up sheet. She is going to earn her walking club charm soon.

This week is when we show our classified staff that we couldn’t do our jobs without them. This is the poster we made.

Today we started up our walking club again. Students have the option of walking around the path during recess to earn a charm. Once they have walked 5 miles they add a charm to their award necklace.
