Art With Annie Heron

Parents,

We are in DESPERATE NEED of headphones. Some of us have none and some of us are on our last set. I need everyone to send one more set please. We use them all the time with the computers and our itouches.

Now onto the fun we had last week.

This week we made clay tiles with Annie Heron, our Artist in Residents.
It is going to be Public Art. That means it is going to stay in the school forever!
We put all kinds of animals on our tiles, like dolphins, birds, baby rhinos, dogs, fish, and turtles.
This weekend they are getting fired. Next week we are going to glaze them.

Arrival From Africa

Today we got a letter from Kampala, Uganda.

It is a learning center for young children that are less fortunate or orphaned and they want a relationship with people around the world and they chose us! They want to exchange letters and art work with us.

We hope to write to them soon so we can learn more about them.

Videolicious Videos

We decided to break out of the normal routine today. We did some quick research and then made videos using the (free) app, Videolicious. We are not able to republish the images we used onto the Internet here on the blog for you to see, so we emailed them to ourselves. Help your child sign into their school email account and you can see it there using your ipad or itouch. I know not everyone has one of these devices, so I will continue to search for ways we can upload this type of project in the future.
Student email accounts are:

New Friend

Today we met a new friend!
JQ joined our class this morning from Medford, Oregon. He is a boy and in 3rd grade. We can tell he is really nice and makes good choices so he will always stay on a green behavior card. AB, CK, and EF played on the play equipment with him.
JQ said he had a pretty good day and that he met a lot of new friends. He has a motto that he shared with us. It is, "You always have to be prepared for tomorrow.

Off to a Busy New Year!

Ms. Schimel introduced a new word work project today. It is called Boggle. We try to find as many words as we can using the letters on the board. She likes us to start by finding the shortest words first, then the longest words. We can have help from home too. :o)

We have new apps on the iPad to help us learn cursive, writing, and math.
Kabaam, Times Table, + Bubbles x, and Big Trace.

We also started creating digital art today. CK made a snowman.
