Math With Expresions
This is an active expression, we try to use them every day. It asks us math questions. For
example five times five. Do you know what five times five equals? We try to get a higher score each day. My highest score is thirty.
It times us to two minutes then it tells us how many we got right. I love using them.

Two Weeks of Fun
Our routine is starting to fall into place and I am finally getting to our blog. This is a long post but I didn't want to leave anything out. I hope you enjoy seeing some of the activities we have been doing.
We learned a new game called, Flip It. This is a fun game for the family, see if your child can teach you how to play.
JS is concentrating on his multiplication facts on xtramath . If we don't get to this during the day, it is your child's homework.
We are seeing good improvement already! Keep it up third graders.
The other day we were working with place value. We are learning how to write numbers in the hundred thousands. See if your child can write these big numbers for you. Then write a number and ask them to tell you the value of a certain digit. Example: 142,567, "What is the value of the 2?" (answer: 2,000).
During reading skills each morning, we read from current news articles on from the website Tween Tribune We look for interesting vocabulary words and highlight important information we want to discuss.
Another way we practice our multiplication facts is by using our expressions. We see how many problems we can complete correctly in 2 minutes. Here we are looking at our results. We are seeing growth and it is exciting!
We work hard to learn new vocabulary words each week. This group is acting out their word, surrounded. They have surrounded this block.
Here HB is TOWERING over RK as she acts out another vocabulary word. Great body language and expression. This group is very animated and I am enjoying them. Makes for a very fun time learning.

Mystery Person
SW is chosen as our Mystery Person today because she has been working so hard and is a great role model. She chose to bring her friendly stuffed animal to class today as her reward.

What Do You Need?
Our first blog entry for this year is about "What We Need."
I asked students to take what they need from a roll of tissue paper.
For each square of tissue, we got to share something we wanted everyone to know about us.
I could hardly wait to hear ALL that I was going to learn about everyone. This is not a shy group! Actually VERY entertaining. I have the best job in the world.
At the end of the activity, AD suggested we award a trophy to the best "speech" and everyone agreeded that honor should go to CC.
This was my favorite activity from the first day of school. I asked everyone to tell me what they wanted from me. I hope you will be able to read their requests as each one means a lot to me and I will try my hardest to fulfill everyone's wish.

On Tuesday we started using the iPads to work on our multiplication skills. Xtramath.org is a site I expect everyone to go on each day either at school or at home.

Track Meet
Our first school track meet was a success!
Can you see JD's yellow discus fly through the air?
Some of us cheered so much we almost lost our voices.
Thank you to the PHS students for all your help running each event.
This is what it is all about....FRIENDSHIPS!
Thank you to our parent volunteers for your support.
I didn't get pictures of very many of you, but please know that I appreciated having you with us.
This was our favorite pose today! Inspired by track star Usain Bolt.
"The winners are the ones who had the most fun!" It was a 32 way tie!
Our ribbons inspired us through out the day and will always remind us that life is precious! Make the most of it.
